Google maps tracked Ferrari racing

Check this out! A somewhat amusing but also disturbing Google Maps + Google Video combination showcasing a gyroscope stabilized camera bumper ride through the populated streets of Paris. Be sure to zoom into the map at some point in the video, and turn on hybrid satellite view, for an awesome view of the Parisian streets as the driver races through them. It’s amazing how he raced through those narrow streets, I’m sure that with today’s traffic, he wouldn’t be able to do so anymore. Still, a great find, Derek!.

“On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.”
